Much Ado about Decorating

So after studying my life away for the past 3 1/2 years (and three months of a dreadful summer session consisting of pooping out content prompts), I decided to treat myself to a well deserved mini break of non studying and detoxing my brain completey and substituting in DECORATING the new house! (which I have patiently waiting and loading up on goodies and slick deal finds in the LBK for the past 3 months) So the past 10 days have consisted of nothing but NONSTOP cleaning. decorating, painting, organizing, etc etc etc the results are FANTABULOUS! I am sooo happy and estatic with how everything turned out and I couldnt have done it without the help of my amazing family, supportive fiance who supports my shopping addiction and complusive nature, and my 2 fairy godfathers, whom I will refer to as Harry and Leo;) Now, I can proudly say that Minh and I have found our dream house! Cant wait to start building memories here! Oh, and now I will start the studying festivties...bring it on INTEGUMENTARY SYSTEM! Other than that, just trying to stay cool this summer and will blog about my crazie adventures thus far when I take a study break..or two;)

And now on to the HGTV transformation segment of our show...
Before- The bedroom- Kind of borning and blah in the beginning

AFTER- The bedroom- super happy with how this room came out! I am amazed at how paint can change the entire amibance of a room just by adding a splash of color! This was the first painting job I ever did and I am absolutely in love with the color and warmess this room exudes! However I hated painting after about 5 min of it!

Before: THE BATHROOM- AKA wallpaper central; anyone who knows me knows I AM the biggest hater when it comes to wallpaper..its so permanent and tacky and so subjective on a persons taste.

AFTER: Luckily for me it wasnt so permanent and with some elbow grease from harry and 2 yes count them TWO paint jobs (who knew bathroom paint needed to be waterproof) and a wallflower to appease the olfactory bulbs, you have this calm and relaxing sanctury...without the blue bright and loud stars that pose as "knobs"

BEFORE: The Kermit room- I am all for making kids rooms cute and kid friendly but seriously, painting a room that is a shade of green that should not even be produced due to the fact that it is bright, loud, and frightening. This room was definately high up on my priority list....

AFTER: Requiring three coats of paint, the final piece is something i like to call the travel room because it has hints of world wide jet setting adventures with a hint of masculinty..AKA Minhs Dog house when he gets in trouble!

BEFORE: The Living room AKA the furnitureless room of sadness. I am a firm believer that the living room sets the gold bar of what you house is all about and its the best representation of you when people walk into your home. I envisioned a warm friendly place where family can gather to talk, laugh, eat, watch sandra lee on youtube, admire a purple spaceship on top of a purple mountain as a desktop background on ur 42in tv screen, and create memories. This room was not sending that message before.

AFTER- I love this room. The colors, the fullness, the organized clutter, the perfect room for family gatherings but most of all, i love the m,ain focal point when you walk in the room( the wall of frames) I am a picture posting whore and I have over 50 pictures in my house from the past and present. I am nostalgic and love looking at all the memoreis from the past. I think this is what gives a house CHARACTER so i think my house has got plently of it..and then some

BEFORE: The dining room- the main thing I couldnt get over about this room was the CHANDELEIR! I dont know what it was about it but I couldnt stand it. I am most proud of this room i think because it has gone through quite the transformation. And I will throw in an extra plug about my super saving budget friendly ways- this room was a steal with a $50 (retail value $300) and $950 9 piece dining room set (retail value $1250). Rooms always look so much better when u save a ton of money in the process! Now I can truly be the HOSTESSS with the MOSTEST when guests come over and dine!

AFTER: The piece de resistance

I would post more of all the hard work, sweat, dedicacation,.SWEAT, cleaning, did i mention SWEAT i put into this house the past few weeks but I hate dragging pictures to the bottom of the page so Ill randonly add more to furture blogs for your viewing pleasure. I love hosting so anytime ur in the neighboorhood, come on by, relax, stay for a while, and drink the green tea with honey and lemon...but be warned that if minh is the one serving the drink, its just green tea. Alas, i would write more but I have been told by Plattimodo that the sprinklers have come on now and its time to go to bed! Good night folks and stay tuned for my next blog-o-fun!
